Day 27: The Lighthouse Family (Little Corn Island)
I'm writing about The Lighthouse today and I can't help but have a huge grin on my face - this place is amazing.
It's a relatively new addition to Little Corn, having only been completed two years ago, but it's already well on its way to becoming an island institution.
French twins Gary and Sullivan arrived here four years ago during their tour of Central America. They were looking for a place to invest, found some land on Little Corn and never looked back.
With one being an architect and the other with a background in sales and marketing, they set about creating a small community of eight beach bungalows and a restaurant/bar on the highest point of the island.
The result is spectacular. Guests stay in gorgeous cabins and can while away their days drinking cocktails and chilling on the gorgeous deck which overlooks the sparking Caribbean Sea.
By night, it's definitely a hot spot and 'Taco Tuesday' and 'Poker Friday' bring people from all over the island for fun, food and the odd bit of flirting.
It has to be said that the other draw is the boys themselves. Let's just say they were first in the queue when God was handing out looks, charm, cool and tank tops. And as a side note, the way they pronounce 'Claire' in their French accent is enough to make your ovaries melt.
I don't believe there's a woman staying here who doesn't check their hair twice in the mirror before heading out for breakfast, and watching them do the gardening from the deck is like being in your own personal Diet Coke Break advert.
In fact, I've met girls on the island who chat excitedly about 'The View' at The Lighthouse and they're not taking about the ocean 😉
I've lapsed into rampant sexism here, so I must point out that they're also lovely, fun, intelligent people who've built something super special together.
Their (considerable) charms aside, The Lighthouse is a fantastic achievement and I can't think of a better place to stay on Little Corn.
They have a sign here that reads: 'Small island, big heart' which sums up the vibe here perfectly.
I'm already plotting my return!
