Roncesvalles to Zubiri

Roncesvalles to Zubiri

2pm: I'm alone, climbing up a rocky woodland path, the sun is shining.

I've stripped down to my vest top, my hair is tied up with a pair of knickers, my phone is stuffed down my bra and I'm listening to Roll With It by Oasis.

To get me further up the hill, I call in the big guns: Destiny's Child (Bootylicious), Ri Ri (S&M) and Beyoncé (Run the World).

Technically you can complete the Camino walking, cycling or on horseback, but I'm seriously considering writing to the Pope to ask him to add dancing to the list.

Somehow, shimmying your way through the forest when you've been on the go for five hours is less painful than walking. That's the power of Queen Bey for you.

I was the last person to set off from the hostel this morning, so with no danger of alarming a fellow pilgrim, I went full jazz hands for an hour of woodland disco.

If you've never danced alone in the woods to girl power anthems, I can highly recommend it.

But back to the knickers in my hair...

It's taken me less than two days to go feral. This morning I didn't even wash my face. I couldn't find my headband and my pants were the closest thing to hand, what's a girl to do?

Who knows, tomorrow I might turn my bra into slippers à la Joanna Lumley in Girl Friday...
